| Subject: polymer clay is toxic? Sun Oct 17, 2010 10:19 pm | |
| Hi everyone, I'm not sure where this topic goes to so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place. Please notify me if so I'm a noob at deco-ing so I have been researching about the different materials being used. Polymer clay is the most accessible in the area where I'm from, but I have certain issues about it. The thing is, I'm sort of an environmentalist. I've come across this site http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art33912.asp and was alarmed by the contents of polymer clay. Even so, I would still like to continue learning about polymer clay and of course, deco-ing. I'd like to know what you guys have to say about this? I'd also appreciate some advice on alternative eco-friendly materials that I could use? (I'm sorry for my noob-ness) Thank you guys! | |

| In my opinion polymer clay is not toxic, only fumes when it's baking could be a bit nasty, but only when you overbake clay or bake it on too high temperature. I have been using polymer clay for over a year and haven't notice anything wrong with it. But if you're concerned, you can read this article I found: http://www.polymerclaycentral.com/cyclopedia/pc_safety_th.html
Hope it helped. | |
